I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO . . . ?

Several members have submitted questions to be answered. Whoever feels that they may have a practical response to these queries is welcome to submit an answer. We will print what is received, if necessary an entire issue will be devoted to covering several different solutions.

"What is the best way to marry Lady Amherst, or Golden Pheasant feather tail barbs to form a wing; and what do they marry best with?"

"What is a practical method of dyeing ostrich herl to achieve any desired color, without matting the herl in the process?"

"I would like to hear what methods are used to photograph Salmon flies." (Please see the article beginning on the next page - Ed.)

"I would like to know what tricks the "Group" might have for cleaning and polishing tinsels. Specifically, what cleaning and polishing agents are being used on oval and round, and silver vs. gold. Also is lacquer or varnish recommended. In detail, how are others doing it? Are they painting, dipping, or what and are they using something special?"

"For flies tied exclusively for mounting in a shadow box, what are the 'Group's' experiences, tips and arguments regarding use of fixatives, lacquers, glues, etc.?"

"I am concerned about long-term feather preservation and restoration. How does one prevent loss of oils and natural fading?"

And one last question that can be answered now . . .

"It would be nice to know who the "Group" is and where they can be located. If we have a roster, can we print it in the 'Flyer'?"

Answer - There are a number of members who do not wish their names, or address, printed. In order to protect their privacy, and the privacy of others a roster will not be printed, or made available. However, if you wish to contact a particular individual for further information please send your request to the Editor. Every effort will be made to forward your questions. - Ed.
