EDITOR'S NOTES
Dave Paris
As Deb and I start our tenure as the editors and publishers of the Flyer for the Group, we approach this with anticipation, excitement and pride. Anticipation, because we can only hope the group will continue to contribute to this publication, as articles are at an all time low. Excitement because we can see the potential in The Flyer and the membership in general. And pride since we are very proud to serve such a talented and dedicated group of individuals who cherish and admire the tradition and art found in the Classic Atlantic Salmon Fly.
As you may notice, the address and phone number listed in the front are different than the one Mike listed in the last Flyer. As this arrives at your home, we are moving into our first. (Pretty good trick, putting this out and moving at the same time!) Anyway, the phone number is our personal line, since I don't want anyone to confuse the shop I run with the endeavors of the Flyer.
Concerning the articles and contributions to continue this publication, PLEASE send in any articles you have! We do not have any to start with as Mike used the last article in the July Flyer. If you wish to write one but are concerned about someone seeing your name, please feel free to use a pen name. Remember, everyone, regardless of your tying level (or at least your perception of it!), has something to contribute. Another series we would like to begin is the inclusion of your flies in the magazine. This is not unlike the old Fly Tyer magazine's format. Please send in any flies you would like to see in print and we will put a collage together.
Since this is our first Flyer, and the Flyer is for all of you anyway, we welcome any comments or critiques you may have. All we are really doing is coordinating your thoughts, ideas and articles since this really is the group's magazine.
So, here's to the next generation of the Flyer. We hope all of you enjoy it as much as we enjoy putting it together!
