The Golden Fly

Note: the wing should be mounted first, forward. After body and hackle are complete, fold back and bind down.

Hook: No. 3 (old scale) with a 2" shank.
Tag Two turns of gold tinsel.
Tail: Strips of mottled mallard.
Butt: None is called for but Mark added a peacock herl butt.
Body: Oval gold tinsel with a green silk rib.
Hackle: Red cock (natural reddish brown).
Wings: Golden pheasant, common pheasant, parrot, peacock herl, turkey tail and jay (with black side up).
Head: Green mohair or peacock herl.
