Well, things just keep moving along. I really appreciate this month's submissions - as I've always said, without you there would be no Flyer.
Just a few more notes about compatibility problems with articles on disk. First of all, thanks to all of you who do submit your articles on computer disk, it really does make my job easier. I don't mean to say, though, that I don't also appreciate Any submission whether it be on disk or written out long hand - your articles are like gold, no matter how they are sent! Anyway, for those who do submit on disk, please make sure that your article is a text only file with no formatting of any kind (boldface type, italics, etc.). When you save your article to disk, make sure the filename has a txt suffix - for example: rnyarticl.txt. This will alleviate any compatibility problems with my system. I had one article submitted in WordPerfect 6.1 that I simply could not read at all.
At this point I have no articles for the October issue so please send those cards and letters!
Incidentally, I wanted to point out that this and the last issue had no illustrations on the inside. This is not because I won't allow them - nothing could be further from the truth! If you have drawings or B&W photos to go along with your article, don't hesitate to include them. In fact, I would encourage you to do so to make the Flyer more interesting.
Again, thank you all for your support!
Recently I received a check in the amount of $600.00 from the previous editor, Dave Paris. These funds will be applied to subscriptions such that each subscriber that was on Dave's original list as it was sent to Mike earlier in the year will receive a total of three issues during 1996.
Subscribers who are on that list and who have paid me during this year will receive their 1997 Salmon Flyers free to make up for issues not sent during the previous year (1995); or, if they request it in writing, I will send a refund.
