FromDon't be too concerned by the seeming lack of articles in this month's issue - the fact of the matter is I had too many submissions to publish this time, all of which were of the highest caliber for this little newsletter. So, if you didn't see your article published this month, not to worry! It will show up in the October issue.
I've decided to dedicate this issue to the backbone of all classic salmon flies - the hook. All of us who are actively engaged in tying the classics are aware of the importance of the hook for it sets the tone for the shape and balance of the overall fly.
Andrew Herd's article giving us a short history of the hook is incisive and informative and it more or less sets the stage for Henrik Strandgaard's article on how to make hooks. And I'm sure you will enjoy, as I have, Bob Arnold's continuing ruminations in his "The Contemplative Fly Tier".
If all of you continue submitting articles of such a high degree of quality, the Flyer and its readership can only benefit.
Thanks again to you all.
